I don't trust the folks at my sears to do it. Anyway found and ordered original sears usa repair kits. Thanks.

Just as an FYI the two ratchets are
Craftsman -VF- 44811
Craftsman -VF- 44807

In the mean time I'm continuing to look for deals on new and used pieces and sets for proto, Williams, wright, sk and snap on. Will see if I can snag some pieces here and there to round out a nice socket collection and will get these two ratchets up to snuff to keep using.

Sorry, I missed that you were looking at the round-head/S-52A rather than the S-52EHA (which are the Snap-on 936 internals).

The round-heads are 72 tooth, according to the catalog:

http://www.snaponindustrialbrands.c...rialbrandscom/Content/PDF/SOIB - CAT2 236.pdf

As far as ratchet repair, do you have the model number of the ratchets, or pics of them? Your first stop for repair would be the local Sears where hopefully you have a competent PMT that will repair it for you while you wait, or provide you the repair kit.

Barring that, you can usually find the kits on eBay, but some shysters like to price them like they're gold.

If you have the model or pics of the ratchets, we can try to find the proper repair kit for you, to make things a bit easier.

Here is one with the items from the auction
http://www.hermanscentral.com/produ...-pc-6-pt-std-deep-metric-socket-set-71915.cfm

Looks like I can add a few missing sockets pretty cheap. Don't need the box and may or may not get the universal. Once I add wright fractional a it's not quite as cheap as the SK set but that's ok. Maybe I'll try SK for the 3/8's or something. Lol.

It appears to be a pretty amazing deal:

http://www.amazon.com/dp/B002GKEZ94/?tag=atomicindus08-20

(Picture shown is not the Wright 224 kit - Scroll down here for details: http://www.wrighttool.com/pub/defau...E}&oid={D9BD845E-FF1F-11D3-8B5D-00A0C942294E})

Yours appears to be missing the metal case, the 9mm deep and the wobble, but you picked up a couple extra sockets (the 4mm and 14mm).

Scored this Cornwell cart off craigslist over the weekend. My son and I degreased and washed it up and this evening I started cleaning and moving tools over from my other box to get them organized. Just so happens I received the Williams stuff I ordered above via ups today from ToolsDelivered and they are awesome. Quite honestly the nicest tools I've ever used or owned I think. I put a long New Britain ratchet my Dad gave me with the set. Can't wait to round out my 1/2" set of Williams sockets.

Yes, B52-A. Advertised as 72 teeth. Seems great to me but I'm comparing to the old craftsman I had which were probably only 36 teeth.

Not as nice as the USA made alternatives but for the clearance prices at lowes these sorting options should work well. Just need to get an SAE set now.

Can't beat this set for $4.00. Doesn't hold all of my sockets but holds most. I like the design of deep sockets going right behind the shallow also. Need to get an SAE set now which is also $4.00. Made in China though. :(

These were not on sale but door $6'and change they hold more than most wrench holders. I will probably rivet them onto a board or piece of aluminum at some point to make them stay in place better.

And these were very dusty but they are on clearance for $3.96 each and seemed like a good way to add some storage outside of cabinets. They need a little touch up on a rough spot or two and are made in China but offer a decent storage expansion option for cheap.

Mailman just dropped off the wright socket set. I see a few signs of use but not many. It seems like a really nice set for the money I paid.

Yes! I generally see everything I need to see the first time, I don't need to see the same pics three or four times.

I believe they are referring to responders to your posts who "re-post" your already posted pics. When they hit the quote button, they need to delete everything within the image tags.

PFSard is correct - your original pics are fine (though, resizing to 1024x768 might work better in the future), txbonds.

There's a good chance I'll get flamed for saying this, but I don't know why so many here rate SK sockets so highly. I would rate the few that I have as merely average.

My 3/8 stuff will be 18 years old; my 1/4 close to 15 this year. I have never replaced a 1/4 or 3/8 drive socket.

My 3870 is that old too and I only had to kit it when I caused the failure.

My Grandpa's 3870 works fine and it's far older.

Dad's SK stuff? No problems.

Me using a socket long term and breaking lots of bolts free is a good rating system. Yours is is based on ? ? ?

I'm gonna start buying some SK stuff. Mostly sockets. Maybe a wrench set. I already bought snap on ratchets. So right now I'm planning to hit tooltopia or amazon for SK sockets.

You're much better off going with Wright wrenches, IMO. SK makes amazing sockets, the best out there IMO, but you can buy better wrenches within the same price range from other companies.

So you think SK for sockets and wright for wrenches? Where would the Williams sockets fll as I thought they looked pretty nice compared to the wrights and craftsmans I have.

I'm sort of wishing I had bought the SK set instead of this Wright one for 1/4 because I'll be in it the same money as the SK by the time I collect up the rest of the Wright sockets to make an equivalent set. Not that I have a prob with the wright but it would have been a lot easier to just buy one and done.

Buy what you like the feel of. I'm so used to my 3870, that flex handle (just under the head flex handle ratchets) feel odd to me. I'm used to the knurl, and the selector on the SK round-head, and I don't want a pear head, nor flex handle, nor a lever.

As far as wrenches, buy what feels good in your hand. Facom has some handles that taper to an elongated oval that would be better overall in feel than any Craftsman, for example. Buy a used example on eBay, see if it suits you, then dive into a whole set.

Williams makes top of the line sockets, both the USA and Taiwan ones. Even with my Taiwan set I can't tell a bit of difference between the two. My old 1/2" socket set that I recently sold on here was without a doubt the best tool I have seen that was manufactured in Asia.

With all that said, you can't go wrong with Wright, SK, or Williams sockets. Quality tools all around, and it just comes to personal preference. Mine happens to be SK's, I have yet to see a better socket, but that doesn't necessarily mean there aren't any out there, or that you may or may not like them as much as I do.

You didn't really help matters man. I was hoping to get a "yes" and here is why response.

Anyway I decided to add to the collection with these items continuing the Williams USA trend

Williams B-52A | 3\8in. Drive Round Head Ratchet 7-5\8in. (USA Made)
JHW-B-40A Williams B-40A | 3\8in. Drive Flex Handle (USA Made)
JHW-MSB-20HRC Williams MSB-20HRC | 3\8in. Drive Shallow Socket Set 6-Pt, 20-Piece (USA Made)
JHW-MSBD-19HRC Williams MSBD-19HRC | 3\8in. Drive Deep Socket Set 6-Pt, 19 Piece (USA Made)
JHW-MSSD-12RC Williams MSSD-12RC | 1\2in. Drive Deep Socket Set 12-Pt, 12-Piece (USA Made)

I had a minor issue with an item from the last order and ToolsDelivered was so on top of it with replacement pieces that I decided it was worth the extra cost to keep buying Williams over the less expensive set from SK for 3/8". Also I'm just drooling over the whole SnapOn Industrial catalog they sent me. :)
