I picked this toolbox up at a yard sale and I'm hoping that maybe somebody could identify it. Any logo that was on it, has long since worn off. I know that I have seen that style handle before, but I just can't place it. Box size is 19-1/2" x 8-1/2" x 2".

Since it isn’t embossed with Plomb, I’m thinking early Proto perhaps originally having a label. Here is the front of my Plomb boxes showing the handle and other views.

I think the way the handle drops vertically into those hinge pockets was a plomb feature, so yes maybe early proto? P&c?

Thanks for all the replies. The hinges look exactly like Don's Plomb box. Given the red color, I think being an early Proto or P & C is right on track.

Judging by the color I think it is very late Plomb. I have one very similar that had the post war socket set in it. The logos were painted on top with silver paint but they don't survive very long on the outside.

I don’t see that specific box in the late war (probably 1945) catalog however it does resemble my 3/8” drive postwar box on the exterior but it doesn’t have the embossing.

I think R Olson is right. Here are the boxes in the ‘54 Proto catalog and they look different. Very informative. Thanks for the pictures.
