I am hoping so, it says 30 off of 80 so I was gonna spend 50 anyways this way someone gets a free 10 and I get a free 30 of extras, now just to think what I should get I really only came for sockets
Does speed perks give you an additional discount off of the sale prices?

Well the 30 off 80 doesn't apply to sale items. Now trying to determine if I will ever have a reason to have deep 1/4 sockets. Was considering passing and just getting the shallow then deep and shallow in the 3/8

I just picked up the GW 3/8 metric deep sockets from Advance Auto. After tax it just over $16. I've been looking for a set on EBay but the going rate for USA craftsman and SK were 15 to 20 plus shipping. This seemed like a no brainer and the sockets look great and should be easy to take off my SK ratchets since the sockets are knurled. I almost bought more sockets but I already have more than I need minus the ones I just bought. I would recommend this set to anyone. They're too cheap to pass up whether you're a pro or hobbyist or somewhere in between.

Shallow and deep at the minimum.

Mid-length is needed in unique situations.

Get all 6 point. Sometimes you will need 12 point but very rare.

^ you be crazy miss the chance of a pretty decent made/designed set at the aa sale price .
I use 1/4 deeps a lot, like most things you probably get away without but when that cheap you might as well make most of it and have matching sets at matching steal pricing .
Amount of tools I not bought when crazy cheap then needed year or 2 later has taught me never miss a real steal tool buy .

Congrats, ya they're excellent and the price is insane when you consider the nice rails they come with. Now you guys need to help me, do I need to buy the 1/4 sets too? I own duplicates of all my sockets at home already (With semi deeps, but I've considered buying extras of those too!)...but at the price I could put them in my extras drawer, or skip it and buy something else... :lol_hitti

The only deep well sockets I don't have is 1/4". I hardly ever use 1/4" so I see no point in buying them. If I have enough room for a 1/4" ratchet, I most likely have enough room for a 3/8 stubby or use my short 1/4 to 3/8 adapter. Your situation may be different.

Dewalt has a 192 piece tool set that will give complete chrome socket sets from 1/4 3/8 and 1/2. This includes shallows and deeps, extensions, ratchets, swivels, and some hex bits as well. Can be found online for $150 shipped. Great bargain even for tawainese tools.

A decent set of 1/4" deep are worth their weight in gold at times. Especially for the cramped engine bays and dash work on modern cars. I'd struggle to work without them, in fact there's probably a few jobs i can think of that i couldn't do without them, like changing glow plugs down a well in the intake.

I got a great 1/4" set from halfords over a year ago and it was worth every penny;

http://www.halfords.com/workshop-to...nced-modular-tray-set-44-piece-socket-set-1-4

About £30 with a trade card, also i would heavily recommend a facom 1/4" t-handle, excellent for doing headlights etc.. or reaching those hard to get torx screws.

Mine gets used very often.

For 10.49 for 13pc 1/4 deep it not big money and rail alone worth almost that .
If you likely need it it worth having at that price .

I do not know about tekton tools but I have been reading a few nice tings about them.

SK, Duralast all good in my book.

Just a thought mind you and a tad bit more expensive but not by too much, have you ever thought about Carlyle tools by Napa? Very well made and from my experience just about every small town in America has a Napa store so warranty is not a problem should they fail; just walk in and out asap.

Gearwrench is another good name to look out for; and speaking of the devil Napa will replace them if they should ever fail.
Gearwrench is the anti-Tekton, with terrible warranty service. Read some of the horror stories on the other threads. +1 for Tekton.

I really could not be bothered on socket warranty. At these rail set prices it a buck a socket.
Tekton warranty is good but the sockets and ratchets they do are very run of the mill bland average.
I pay about 3 to 5 bucks on average for my preferred style taiwan sockets Premier and nutmaster and self warranty. Only sockets I had replace been down to abuse and wear over cracking and at the price I rather warranty products myself rather than pay a premium with a brand label and rely on them being around long term, replacement socket design and quality be same I purchased or staying easy warranty friendly over time .
In over 3 decades using pretty decent (japan and taiwan) chrome sockets in daily auto repair I recall maybe 3 getting cracked . absolute no need for warranty, you be wiser get insurance as more risk of loss or theft .

People talk a lot about GW's warranty but I haven't had a problem. One of my 120xp had a loose snap ring. I emailed GW over the weekend and by 9am Monday they emailed me back. They don't send out just the snap ring so they sent me an entire rebuild kit for free.

the Halfords Advanced is good stuff especially if you can wait for the special offer cycle to turn in your favour. I picked up a small 3/8" set for £12.50 clearance recently and its a nice portable set to have in my house toolbox. It looks very very like the Gearwrench stuff, even the box its in is the same design as Gearwrench use, Apex must have the contract for supplying these. The lifetime warranty is handy on these too. Also the screwdrivers are excellent and on special at the moment it seems;

A decent set of 1/4" deep are worth their weight in gold at times.

I got the Gearwrench 1/4" deep set for about $11 at Advance auto a couple of days ago. My previous set of deep sockets only went up to 10mm.

I could not resist getting more at the prices they were selling them for so I also ended up getting 3/8" metric swivel sockets, deep sockets and shallow sockets, along with 3/8" SAE swivel sockets.

I didn't really need another set of 3/8" metric deep and shallow but it came to less than $25 after the sale and my rewards coupon.

I have the Tekton sets for at-home use. No skipped sizes and heavy duty blow mold cases. Great price and great customer service too!

I would think that just about any brand would work fine for most people except for the absolute worst-of-the-worst no-name brands. Brands such as Tekton, GW, Duralast, Carlyle, Kobalt, Husky, CM, Masterforce, Crescent, Dewalt, etc would be fine. Find something you like at a price point you like with convenient pick-up or shipping options and I doubt there'll be much regret.

If I needed a set but had some time to get it, the Tekton sets look nice. If I needed something right now I would just get whatever was convenient whether it be from NAPA, Menards, Lowe's, Advance Auto, etc...

Good stuff,

I have up to 15mm, but i could get buy with a deep and shallow set up to 13mm minimum.

I have from 10-24mm in 3/8" chrome and from around 13-27mm in chrome 1/2"

Larger than 27mm i just just impact sockets. Most of my chrome stuff, other than the 1/4" set is 12 point.
