Hi everyone!

I'm in need of a metric and SAE set of sockets...but all I can find are sets that include (at best!) ratchets, extensions etc OR nothing that is boxed/in a case.
Can anyone please recomend a set that:
- includes ONLY sockets in 1/4 drive (SAE and metric, does not need to be in the same set)
- comes in a sturdy box/case (like the cool Hazet BitE Box)
- German/European made or US made

Many thanks!

What size range would you like to cover? 4mm-15mm, 3/16"-9/16" or something like that?

Are you looking to stay with new or is used okay? (Though used would be a tough recommendation for most of us since you're in Poland)

And do you not want the extras because of cost or because you want the case to be as physically small as possible?

Yeah, something in that range would be perfect!
I'd say new is a must.

I'm specifically looking for a boxed set without the extras due to size constraints, but also because I have a full set already from Facom in my rolling cabinet (in a tray) and need something for grab 'n go. I'd say that cost is not much of an issue, anything along the Facom, Snap-On, Hazet price range is OK.

Thanks!

wasn't sure offhand but I think I might have found a winner for you... if you're cool with SK. They aren't as high-end as Snap On or Hazet but they are still good.

The 91824 set is 1/4" drive, semi-deep, includes 5mm-15mm and 3/16"-9/16". It comes with a 1/4" driver in addition to the ratchet but no extensions, no flex handle. Made in the USA. Case is reasonably small. Hopefully it has actual hinges but I'm not sure. It's on page 30-31 of their catalog.

RunninOnEmpty: That is PERFECT. Never had a set of SK Tools but I heard some good stuff! Gonna look through their catalog, it's a shame to go through all that trouble of importing tools just to buy ONE set...

Again...THANK YOU!

If you don't mind using impact sockets, gearwrench has a 48 piece impact socket set for 1/4 drive that is only sockets and in a nice compact case. I would say these impact sockets are hardly (if any) larger than chrome sockets and have worked well on my impact driver. I know it's not US/Euro made, but it is Taiwan, which produces tools that are significantly better than China, and many are comparable to products made in the major first world manufacturing countries (Japan, US and Germany).

All I got, sorry.

You're welcome. There are some SK threads on here, so if you're looking into buying more than this set, I'm sure you can find some great recommendations in those threads. A couple of their ratchet designs are very well-known and copied. The well-known designs aren't high tooth count but they are very rebuildable for reasonable money. They have some newer designs too with pretty decent tooth counts, but I don't know enough about them to recommend for or against them.

If you're looking to place an order from a US-based tool store in general, also check out Wright Tool's wrenches with WrightGrip and WrightDrive which makes them similar to Snap On's Flank Drive Plus.

Yeah checkout their catalog. They have other sets that are just the sockets nothing else. They come a rail.

I know these are not what you want...

Taiwan, not U.S, manufacture...

But...

The sockets are very nice, and so is the price...

GearWrench---#80314D 6 pt 1/4" Drive SAE/Metric Socket Set---47 pcs...

GearWrench---#80718 6 pt 3/8" Drive SAE/Metric Socket Set---63 pcs...

Both come in a heavy duty blow molded case...

www.tooldiscounter.com

Price for both would be around $ 105.00...I don't know how much the freight would be...but I'm guessing that GearWrench is available in Europe...
