Hansen trays. I like them better than anything else. I have them all filled up so I don't have issues with empty pegs driving me crazy. I'll often pull the whole tray out and either place them in my cart or just carry to where i'm working.

Hansen trays for almost all my sockets. For specialty and swivel sockets i use the new VIM mag rails and old school metal rails with clips.

I actually like the vim magrails the best for there convenience and customized ability over the Hansen or Ernst expensive but worth it imo for the sockets

I'm using the Westling Machine trays.I like them quite a bit but it was a bit of a puzzle getting them all into a drawer in my 26" cabinet.

Mostly rows of 1 X 2 X 5/16 Conveyor magnets, followed by spring clip socket rails (Also sitting on a couple of magnets) and old school metal cases for matching sets.

I have been using the Pittsburgh Craftsman knockoffs, until I get all of the sockets I need. Once that is complete I plan on making my own customized setup.

I like the plastic trays with pegs but empty pegs and wasted space drives me bonkers. So, I will make my own peg board with the spacing and arrangement I prefer.

For the price you cant beat it, I just wish HF wouldn't skip sizes with their sockets.

Craftsman also does the same thing, or they split up one rail of sockets into 3 purchases, making one strip cost 100 bux. I cant say about any other brands, as I have never bought any other brands.

Well, I did have a set of Popular Mechanics metric 1/2 drives that didnt skip sizes. Tough sockets too, I beat em with a Matco impact for years. Solid sockets for sure.

Yea, I sure use the sockets for their intended use. Im think my most used socket has to be the 10mm. Plus I hate I that HF and even Sears puts 12 point in there kits. I cant find a 3/8 shallow socket set from HF that's 6 pt.

Back to the OP I use craftsman socket organizers at work. The snap in ones. I can toss those around and they wouldn't even budge. I think ill be looking into the Hansen socket tray or possibly the Ernst ones.

I prefer rails. Just hate being at the car, suddenly realizing I need another socket and wasting time to go back to the box and back.

I would like to Thank You In advance for spending about $150 bux of my dough.....:rocker:

I would like to see these Westlings setup in the top of a 26 inch wide toolbox.

I like the Kobalt trays... I know the empty pegs grate at some of your souls but it doesn't bother me... for now. Sure I'd love some Westlings, but I'm a new dad and only have $20 in the trays. Can't beat the price.

Yes, all of them. I'm using the Hanson trays for most. Socket rails for hex, torx & assorted bits. I use the Mech Time Savers blocks for the 1/4 dr stuff and my 3/8dr SAE & metric 6pts because they are used most and it's convenient for me to just grab the block and take it to the job.

By the way, I never knew I had a socket organization problem before I found this site.

Early on, I considered most of those space wasters already shown, then decided to make up some custom boxes to fit the sockets I had on hand. Simple construction from bent up 18Ga sheet metal from an old dryer. These really do suit my needs in my DIY shop.

Another vote for the Ernst rails
http://www.ernstmfg.com/tool-organizers/socket-organizers.html
Work great, relatively low cost, and best of all made in the USA.
The twist lock clips are great for heavy impact sockets.

These look nice also, and I am trying to find more info on these.

Hmmm, I watched all the videos they had on these and this sure looks like a problem solver.

If I want to use these socket organizers over a neoprene 2mm thick liner I wonder if I should go with the magnetic rails.

I work the night stocking for Lowes, and those are non-stock according to the computer and will fade away. Get them while they are in stock, at $5 per a set of 3 in metric or SAE is a steal. Here's mine in action when I went in to retrieve a broken timing chain tensioner guide.

I don't have the magnetic rails. I have the base mounts that hold 4 rails per mount.

http://www.ernstmfg.com/tool-organi...ccessories/socket-rail-mounting-kit.html?SID=

sparksftball69 I don't know how strong the magnets are on theses. I bought the standard ones and used magnetic tape on the bottoms. If you are mounting directly to the drawer I imagine they are powerful enough to hold on to the drawer.

Just so you are aware there are different length of rails. The cheapest place I have found is Summit racing. They stock just about everything they make and shipping is only $4.95.
