Socket with a set screw?

Bought some 1/4" sockets about 25 in all. 3 of them are craftsman and are thick with set screws in them. What's their purpose?

Never thought of that. 2 of them have no size on them but one of them is marked 7/16.

7/16 Allen, likely.

Some of my brake caliper and large torx bit sockets are set-screw equipped.

one of them is marked 7/16.

Does it have a part number on the socket?
Craftsman quarter-drive hex bits stopped at 3/8 and even it had a reduced shank.

I have a few of those Craftsman 1/4" drive sockets. All of them are from the =V= era. From what I recall, they were offered with several different bits. Those depicted below include Allen bits and clutch head bits. (I believe at some point, Craftsman offered set screw sockets in 3/8" drive too.)
