Hey guys thanks for all the wisdom here, here’s my question…attic truss loft area above stairs where there is no typical truss… how can I insulate here? I’m hanging soffit baffles and that has gone smooth until I am above my stair case as seen in photos… how can I allow air to escape through soffit and vent when this section of roof is reinforced for strength due to not having a typical truss? I feel like I’m doing a bad job explaining it but the photos will… thanks all

Hmmm...couple of options:
1) drill 1" holes in the lateral boards near the roof sheathing in the areas where the baffles have flow. Install baffles, insulation, etc. Baffles would have to be cut shorter and width wise also.
2) Sacrifice headroom and that area and put baffles over top of those cross pieces, then insulate. But I think you'll lose too much headroom this way.

I'd go with 1).

Seems like the builder went with overkill for the roof sheathing support...

I was thinking overkill, too, but since those rafters are all shorts, I'm guessing there is a soffit projection along the eave to the right of the stairs.

I would do #1 all the way up to the peak.

How many holes would be sufficient in your opinion?

In my locale, all platform framing is double top plate. The second top plate ties the individual tip-up sections together. Joists and rafters align over the studs. If it's something other than that, then additional top plates or support within the wall framing occurs.
