Soffit Lights

Hi All

Looking for some soffit lights (preferably LED). My soffits are very shallow as roof pitch is 4:12 and I only have 1-foot overhang.

My walls are 9' 2" high and I need them to illuminate the patch as well as provide some decorative effect. Was thinking about 4 along a 22 foot wall

Any suggestions?

you can use a standard recessed light can, and then use whatever trim you want. even "indoor" trims. you just need to decide if you want a 4, 5, or 6 inch can. 6 inch can will give you the most trim options, but its also the biggest, which may be an issue to fit.

or you could use the remodel cans. you can pretty much use any can in reality.

I installed three of these in a 30 foot long wall. I am very happy with them and they put out a lot of soft light. Can't beat the price either.

Installed a dusk to dawn sensor. They are AWESOME!
I have similar soffit as you with 4.5 pitch. Wasn't hard at all to get in, but I also didn't hardly have insulation in the attic.

I ran one power wire to the attic, installed boxs a couple feet from peak, and ran wire down the truss to the light itself. Drilled 4" hole, wired up the light, and the light snaps in place. VERY happy with the result. However, did have to get light blocking shades for inside the house

Only three shown here. The other two are on the garage door, which the soffit is only 8' from the ground. Lights up the driveway enough.

i put these in and there great mount to regular a junction box and the frames are cast metal

I can't. The soffits is way too shallow for a standard can. I just installed 4 inch cans in house and they are too deep

How much depth are you needing?!
Even with a 4:12 roof, I assume you still have soffit, which is at least 4". You won't be installing right to the end of the soffit, so you gain an inch or two there. That gives you six inches.

Says it mounts in any 4" junction box. Can get much more low profile then that.

What are the rules for can lights since LED lighting came along. Are they made in both IC (insulation contact) and non IC? You could install a regular light bulb into a fixture designed for a LED and burn your house down.

You need to be real careful, as some of the IC rated ones are only IC rated when using LED bulbs
