I have soffits that are 3/8 plywood that I want to cover.
The two choices are aluminum and vinyl. The fascia will be aluminum.
Ignoring the price difference which material do you think would be the best choice, and why?

I like the metal fascia with under soffit vinyl on our house. It was installed years ago to cover the aging and years of flaking paint on the 1959 wood soffit and fascia.

I prefer aluminum because it has a cleaner, crisper line to it and less tendency to sag. Install isn't any harder if the fascia is going on after. It does dent easier tho.

I used vertical aluminum siding for my 22-3/4 overhang on my house. I cut it to be installed perpendicular to the house. I did this about 44 years ago and it still looks new. I vented the soffit about every fifth piece with vented soffit.
