So I did some HVAC work and replaced/moved my outside unit and intalled all new equipment and lines inside as well. During the process I removed the Soffit Vent as it is a full length around the house. The problem is it was made of plastic and was brittle due to age I'm guessing and cracked in some places as I was removing it. I have been trying to find the same material locally with no luck but during an internet search I found this. Mine isn't exactly like this but is a good reference. I would most likely be ok with something close in appearance to this as I dont' think anyone would notice it wasn't the exact same thing. But what i don't want to do is spend $140 on a piece of plastic that should be $14.....

Anyone know of anything?

140 a section is not right. You can purchase a case for that. Here is a link but almost any building supply house has this. You purchase 12' or 10' lenghts and cut to match your soffit depth (the pieces for mine go the short way not in long runs.. (http://www.mastic.com/Products/Soffit_and_Fascia/Universal.aspx)

Thanks for the quick reply, doesn't look like it is going to help me out though... That is Vinyl Siding Soffit, I have hardie soffit's and they used these plastic inserts that slip over the hardie board and is sandwitched between 2 pieces to form a vent. I really need to take a picture of my house, an area it is installed and the area it isn't so people can see exactly what my setup looks like. I'll try to do that tonight when I get home. Thanks again for the input! :rocker:

Here is an example of exactly what it looks like... Might of found what I need now just where to get it?

Well looks like this is one of those items where you ask someone a question and the answer pops in your head. I found that is the manufacture of what I ahve and located 5 places that are approved vendors for them around me so should be able to get this easily I would think.... Thanks anyone who read this!

Sorry bout that.. Funny we have the hardi siding and I remember when we were doing the soffit detail we came to a Financial issue. Now it all comes back to why we went Vinyl for the underbelly vent side. Your right the actual hardi material is high priced...glad you found your replacement..
