Finally received approval from my County that I can build a garage on a very small plot of land adjacent to my property. So now I need to use a good software package to develop specs for a builder. What's out there that's either free or relatively easy to use.

You may want to check with your building department on what requires engineered plans. I spent about 3-4 months learning Chief Architect and getting my plans done perfectly only to learn that any building with walls over 10' is required to have engineered plans (my garage has 12' walls). I took my plans to an engineering office and they put their stamp on it and charged me $700.

About 7 ft of the side walls and slab will be concrete since I will be building into an existing retaining wall area. Then about 4-5 of stick build to get an 11-12 ft. ceiling height. Initially, I want plans to give to concrete contractor. The balance of the plans will be for approval, but I plan to build the rest myself.
