Sog Themed Tools - Yay or Yuck?

What do you think about Sog's themed knives?

Personally, I think they're a bit too showy for me, but that might be because I don't indentify with and cannot relate to the themes.

Simpler blades work best for me. Take the Randall model One for example, No bells, no whistles, no teeth, just a simple proven design.

Darn right, Fed. It doesn't get any better than that knife. Everything since has been influenced by it, tried to beat it and failed. I was just at their shop in Orlando last week.

SOG has gone from hard use tool of the professionals to mass market to Tom , **** and Happy Harry the home owner. It should speak volumes as to what you end up getting fora product.

Not many here are big fan's of Case knives, though I agree with you, so I suppose there are at least two of us!

I've owned SOGs, not a fan, due to the soft steels they use, their "prybar" school of knife design (often with thick blades and low saber or hollow grinds) and the 'mall ninja' demographic they seem to target.

I don't own but one or two Case, due to an unhealthy interest in Queen knives, but Case are wonderful knives! Especially their ol-time carbon steel blades matched with great handle materials.

yeah too many bells and whistles. My knifes are usually under $50 and i have no qualms about using it in an abusive manner if the situation warrants. Prying, hammering it does it all. Currently have a gerber paraframe2 that i daily carry as a mechanic its saved my *** on the side of the road more than a few times (also do emergeny breakdown calls) not only do i consider my knife an extremely valuable tool that i NEVER leave home without but its also an underestimated defensive weapon if one is willing to get down and dirty while they are unarmed...

I personally like my little swiss army knife. It even came with a nice led flashlight for $20.
