I've had a hard time finding specs on a Solar 2-175. One is being offered to me with cart, small tank, and regulator for $350. Claims the unit is fully functional. Do you think it is worth it?

Can anyone link me to a spec sheet?

I currently have a HF 90 Amp 110 Mig welder with gas that I am looking to upgrade to a unit which will let me control the voltage.

The cost of a tank is what might make this appealing, depending on what "small tank" means. If it is 80cf then the welder is fairly low risk. Most 175 class machines work fairly well, even cheap ones.

From the looks of it (picture), the tank is about the same size as I have on my HF welder right now. I'd guess it is about 18" tall and only 6" in diameter. My tank cost me $99 full.

I have one. Bought it used from a shop-smart friend for about $300. Mine has a Tweco Mini-Mig gun. Solar was bought by Century, now owned by Lincoln. With some web digging, you'll find a lot of parts still available through Lincoln.

I've done rollcage work for my racecar with it (but it was only 1.5x.090" wall tubing). Mine had feed issues after sitting for a while - turns out the liner was worn badly. Replaced that, it's been great.
