Solar Battery Maintainer

In my unpowered shed I would to add a solar battery maintainer to keep lawnmower battery fresh especially during the winter. I want to mount the panel to the roof and route cables conveniently.

Stronlgy prefer NOT made in China if at all possible.

I have a Battery Minder that I use on my tow rig diesel truck. It comes with standard clamps, but I found it much easier to buy the ring terminals.

I also have a Battery Minder. They are pricey, but I was able to get one used on ebay.

I bought it to maintain the batteries on my boat over the winter. Typically I had shore power available and could use the onboard charger, but the marina was doing a bunch of work that winter. It worked fine for keeping my batteries up over the winter. I liked the smart charge aspect as the marina was about 45 miles from my house so I did not want to have to monitor it.

I am hoping to mount it on the roof of a shed I have without electric, run it to a battery and run wire for some 12V lights in the shed.

I think just about all solar panels are made in China.

I take the battery out of the (whatever) and put it inside the shop over the winter on a Minder. Its a few minutes of messing around with it, but not bad.

I have two like that but a different brand. Both normally for trailer boats but one is currently on a van that's been parked for about a yr. No controllers, just clipped directly to the batt. For a rider mower batt I'd get the smallest size so you don't have to worry about a controller. I also use a Battery Tender in my shop for a small rc plane flight box batt.

I had one that was horrid. It had a flashing led on the panel and somehow it hurt more than it helped. I would definitely go with something more robust than a 4” by 14” panel from hd
