I’m getting ready to start building a house and pole barn and with the way things are now lately im looking for some security camera suggestions. Without having power right away or WiFi for a while, does anyone know of or have experience with a camera that can be solar powered and run off a phone data plan? I know some hunting trail cameras can be used like that and that may be a more feasible route to go. I’d like some features for it (motion sensor, alerts sent to my phone through an app or something, recording capabilities etc)

A quick google search this morning found some results that were fitting for what I want but the camera I looked at is no longer made.

I run a couple Tacticam Reveal cameras that have all the features you mentioned. Ther're fairly new to me, but they've run flawlessly off the solar panels for 5+ weeks.

How about running a 4g access point and then use the wifi cameras that you will end up with?

Eufy has solar cameras that don't send your video up to the cloud and performance is good. I have two 2k and one FHD cameras from them, but not a solar one yet

If your good with electronics, you can probably put together solar powered cell phone to WiFi system for a couple hundred dollars, cameras extra. Make sure you "hot spot" gas inputs for external antenna. Mount the whole thing in a weather proof housing.

Make sure to hide your box, the solar panel and the antenna so trespassers won't know they are live on "candid camera" !

I have 2 different brands of cellular trail cameras that work good, 1 outdoors and has a solar panel with a built in battery plus the batteries in the camera. The solar does not recharge the camera batteries but it is supposed to run the camera. I had been getting about 3 months on the batteries before the solar panel was put up. The other camera is indoors
