has anyone here tried the weller battery powered soldering iron. i just got it at radio shack for 9.00 , any one here use it??

I have one and - I am probably the only one here - find that it actually works pretty well on small stuff. Very convenient when I have to repair the wire for teh dog's invisible fence.....

I tried one, for my carry around toolbox on the job. They dont get anywhere near hot enough for me. For portable, I say stick with a butane iron.

This is probably a much more realistic solution. Mine does not get hot enough for any medium or large jobs. But it was a gift, so I thought I might as well try it.

I have a butane bluepoint restamped weller that i use for portability serves as a back up. It gets realy hot and has multiple tip options.
