Soldering paste/Solder

First off, I'm soldering copper for my air lines. What I'm trying to do is get this started tonight. The alternative is a trip into town tomorrow to get what I need.
You know how all that stuff you think you have at home isn't there any more.

So I have solder. 50/50, and acid core. Some newer Oatley acid free paste, and an old tin of Kester paste. Any problems using any of it together? The acid free isn't necessary, but can it be used with the solder I have without problem?

i wouldn't use acid core solder with copper.

A roll of 63/37 and good flux is handy to have around for more than just plumbing projects...

Yes, both methods work but a nice pre clean up job and a neat flux job makes for very nice joints aesthetically and structurally. No need to add more flux as you go on a sweat joint.

The Kester paste and the solid 50/50 are fine together. Get everything clean and you'll have fine looking joints. Heat up the male section first, then the female and the solder will be wicked right in for a perfect seal. The heat on the female section is what pulls the solder into the joint.

Mapp gas and a quick trigger torch speeds things up a bit.

Already have the Mapp and trigger torch. Bought them for the last plumbing fix I did. For that one everything was lead free as it was actual water line. I just can't find the dam flux and solder that I used. Of course over the years I've had this left over, and that left over. Like I said, I just don't want to have to make a trip into town if I don't have to. Thanks for the replies.

Conserve that Mapp gas as it's no longer available!
