My father wants a soldering vise for Father's Day, but I've never looked into them. Does anyone have any recommendations? The only thing I really have to go on is my mom saying that he wanted one w/ adjustable arms and clips instead of just a tiny vice.

Any suggestions or info guys?

Thanks!

Depending on what he is wanting to do, I don't think you can go wrong with Panavise 301. There are many options available to configure it for board work, fixtures, ect. I would add a 312 base mount to your initial order. I have a couple, including one mounted to a 10x10" piece of plywood that I can clamp to whatever is available when working off a ladder or lift.

I like how the Panavise appear to be a very nice product, but I think he would really prefer the arms like in the link Zrexxer offered. I wish Panavise offered those type of arms, then I would be set.

Seems to me they do, or at least did (I think I have one). Professur's tip works well for splicing wires. I like to screw the cap down to prevent it from wandering around.

I do a lot of cable termination and board work. The Panavise is probably my most used tool.

No dice on the alligator clip style from Panavise - they "looked into several times but have not perfected yet." :dunno:

Zrexxer has provided some good options.
