Im trying to Pull the codes on an 89 mustang. My scanner doesn't seem to pull any of the codes, comes up with a screen that says fast codes but shows no codes. I know the car has stored codes because check engine light is on. I might be doing something wrong not very familiar with pulling codes on obd1 vehicles. Any advise would be great....THNX

Are you powering up the adapter under the hood? You need to use the ford adapter with power off the battery cable that plugs into the adapter on the side.

What he said. The adaptor needs to be powered. You should of gotten a cigarette lighter power cord with the OBD1 adaptor set.

yes I'm using the cable that has positive and negative leads and plugs into the obd1 adapter. I pulled codes jumping the connector but I'm still curious as to why my scanner won't pull them.
