I’m not trying to hijack but what is a good water based degreaser for a heated parts washer?

I have a Graymills heated parts washer that I fill with approx. 30 gal. of water then add 1 gal. of Royal Purple cleaner, 1 gal of Simple green and 3 lbs. of oxy clean and it works great for about 12 - 15 complete engines. Then I change it out. Cost me about 15 $ for the cleaner at the dollar storess.

My tank heats up to 190*

Guy who had it before me used stoodard solvent, but thats still upwards of 6-7$ a gal.

Re: Solvent Recommendations/ Update...

Graymills - Craig was gracious enough to comp. this solvent saver "kit". The problem is I can not figure out how to use it.

I have circled all the possible ports and parts and it just does not make sense how to hook this up. The only part that fits is the end of the black rubber hose fits onto the plastic barbed ****** on the end of the bag.

Is this to be used as a separate cleaning event after normal parts cleaning has been accomplished? (The grey rubber fitting @ the end of the black hose is too big to fit onto the brass nozzle.)

Any ideas? THX

Yes, the canvas bag (or whatever it's made of) is meant to filter your solvent when you are not cleaning parts. I think you just let it run for a few hours... Does the tip of the black hose (with the gray end) fit on the end of the pump (remove existing nozzle extension)... Then the other end of black hose goes onto black barb of bag...

Back in the good old days when I was young and still on the tools we used solvent from our fuel and lubricant supplier (bulk dealer) .In our case Texaco , but we can still purchase 1,5,20and 45 gallon containers from the bulk dealer of your choice . for flash point of their product go on line or phone and ask the agent .

I just bought 10 gallons of PSC1000 from Tractor Supply for my washer. I like it - a lot. Almost no smell in the shop with the lid closed and it seems to work pretty good. It has fumes, so SOP with the lid up but I was pleasantly surprised that it did not stink up the garage. This is important because my wife can smell a cigarette in a diesel cattle truck at a quarter mile.

I use PWS1000 from tractor supply. Neve heard of PSC1000.

I have a non-heated parts washer from HF. I've tried water based stuff, but it never cleaned like I wanted it to. The PWS1000 works well enough, and with the amount I use the parts washer 10 gallons lasts me a year or so.
