The number of combinations is huge. As a n exercise in mental ************ we could mix in a couple small fittings and I even have a 4 ft hose somewhere. so I could hit up some bolts. I got 50 no reel, 25 no reel, 50 on a reel. I put a 15 ft no reel on. A ga at he regulator goes together with this and if guy has trunk and branch a couple gages on the main too while we are at it,, ha I actually can plug ahead of it on the 3/4 pipe.
The one I can easy test this is 100 ft long and you can see the reactions and drop and how long it takes.
The net of some of this is, short hose with short bursts while tank pressures are hi with undersized compressors if it matters. I would only gain a very little on sustained operation by increasing a 2 stage line from 1/2 to 3/4 pipe at wot above the rated output etc.
The only real reason to improve the air for most tools (and there tends to be conservatisim here too) is if it is insufficient to the task. The standard automotive fitting been used for years is fine for standard and smaller tools, once its performance is above adequate its pretty much irrelevant. Sure, you can open a couple 3/4 valves to wash hands but its a waste of effort. A bit different than trying to fill a bucket with big hose and wide open valves.
I am interested in new connectors, it would cost a lot to change out but they get old and are really difficult. .
