I am heading to a local auction next week and was wondering if anyone has any info on this particular grinder. Sorry for the crappy pic, but this is the only one they posted on the site.

I'm wondering if any of you guys could tell me if it's a 110V or 220V unit (don't think it's a 3 phase unit)? Also, interested in any info on it in terms of durability and really what I should want to bid up to. It looks like you can see one of the safety glass housing on the top shelf, but it's hard to tell:dunno:. It also looks like the door was an owner add on. I'm an autobody guy so either way the wooden door is gone if I win the bid.

Going by the last few times I went to this auction house, stuff like this sells pretty low (probably will go for under $40). Most spendy bidders are looking for the small antiques and stuff they can ship over the larger/heavy items.

I'm no B&D fan but I'd pay $75 for that base alone. It looks like a Craftsman Block would fit perfect! :willy_nil

Thanks guys:beer:!! I was going to max out at $60 (going on vacation that weekend), but I highly doubt that it will fetch close to that. I'll keep you posted.

Oh yeah, Rick, was that one you helped your buddy rebuild a 220V or 110V unit? I'd prefer the 220V, but the 110V unit would be a close second since I have about six more spots to fire it up using 110V versus 220V in the garage:lol_hitti.

Those came in all different variants to my knowledge. I have seen a few over on the OWWM site. Back when B&D really made some nice stuff.

Most of the 6" ones were 115/1ph but came in 115 or 220v options.

That would be a nice grinder and stand for $60 no doubt.

I'm pretty sure it is a model 578, not as common as the more industrial type G
