I'm just throwing this out there to see if anyone can ID any of these tools. They were my grandfather's and I'm guessing they were regularly used in the early 20th century.

A gauge with multiple uses...

I'll be back with photos. Apparently they need some size tweeking

The two sided gauge

Advertising scaling ruler
Top edge is just a ruler, can also be used for 1/16 scale
bOttom edge is 1” = 1 foot, in 1/2” increments, looks like 6 markings per 1/4” so 24 per foot
These two faces are for creating scale drawings, just like an architects drafting scale

3/4” per foot on top, 1/2” per foot on the bottom. Can’t see the pointy edges well enough to tell what they are for, but guessing holes in the products to tell patterns.

And the last one for now. This is definitely a homemade jig made by my grandpa Joe. He added his initials. People really were dedicated to their tools back in the day. What he used it for is a mystery to me. He was from Kenmore (Buffalo), NY if that means anything.

Some kind of cutting device? Maybe for making templates?

PXL_20250314_211030836.jpg

looks like cutting or marking, depending on how sharp.
A measuring stick. I've never seen one that folds like this. I don't know what trade would use it or how it was used. Any thoughts?

Many different uses, many different types over the years.

Look here for some options, based on the markings. Starts here, and goes on for about 7 pages. Four fold is your type, overall total length is important.

First one is a gauge for measuring the size of holes in something. Clue is the type of product listed on the scale, and the tapered end for inserting into the holes. You can see marks on the tapered edge, insert the gauge and see how far it goes.

Second looks like it’s for window screen spline.

And then a carpenters folding rule.

That catalog is so cool. Hard to believe that useful tools were less than a buck back then. Of course in 1916 it was a different world.

I have boxes of old planes of many types. Many were well used and some missing parts. Very interesting stuff.

No takers on the homemade jig by Gpa? Guesses are OK.

Couldn't find a saw thread.
Try here. Your rail saw will get more appropriate loving there.

Is this blade wider than a normal hacksaw blade?
