I have low tooth count SK and old Williams. I didn't know I was tooth count deprived until all these high count ratchets hit the market. I'm not saying it is not an improvement but but it is common business practice to "create" a problem so they can sell you a solution. It us pretty rare when my swing is that limited.

I don't really think it's a problem for the average person on this website, since I imagine most people here have about 4500 different ratchets they can use. Probably more for the people that only have 1 or 2 for each drive size and need something to cover a lot of different requirements. Then again, if you can only have one, this isn't it since the head is thick compared to modern designs even if you have a high tooth count.

I only use the fine stuff if I really need it, most of the time I just default to SK or proto, etc coarse ones.

I'm sure you already have your answer, but a while back I posted a picture that shows the underside of the newer selector along with all of the other bits and pieces, post number 92, the new and old selectors are not interchangeable.

You know this thread got me thinking... what else swaps... as soon as i can figure out Tapatalk, ill post a pic... but apparently the thumbwheel version #45171-2 fits just fine. Ebay seller had NOS for $12/ piece and now, even though not 80tooth, two kits later, an excellent upgrade.

I am hilariously late to the S&K scene if this is common knowledge.
$8 Swapmeet find(with good guts) and $17 upgrade... zero complaints

Oh now that looks interesting. the thumb wheels on ratchets are nice. If they made a fine tooth thumb wheel drop in for these round heads it's be nice. Like the round head fine tooth eascos except with SK handles.
