Like it or not you are setting the tone by bringing up the ethnicity of the ‘contractor’.

Well there you go,I went back and fixed it to make you happy happy.
Now if there's ever a post anywhere on gj pointing out the ethnicity of anybody doing shoddy work or ripping anybody off I expect you to jump on it and complain.
Just to prove you're not one sided about anything.

Looks like nothing he did can be trusted. What a complete waste of time and material.

I thought the "Japanese Tourist" description was spot on, and I lol'd.

When you start ripping it out a lot of the fittings may be reusable as he probably didn't use any glue either. That is really a hack job. Mike Holmes would have a field day with that mess.

Different world (the work he is biding on and the work I do)
When I get a job like that in the Powersport world, the est is for all new parts, every one I touch as part of the repair , MOD, or upgrade.

Two reasons, 1: I don't like combacks, and used parts are a great way to have a comeback you did not primarily cause yet are on the hook for.

2: a customer who agrees to the quote and is surprised later with a lower number (because some used parts were found to be fully serviceable) is always a happy customer, vice a customer who was given minimal, "should cover it" quote and then had 10, 20, 30% added because parts were assumed re usable and found not to be in the work will always be an unhappy customer.

IDK if I'd want to even get involved...

Tommy

That's my opinion. I walk away from stuff like this. I have a few pics from this one house that make this thread look like an episode of TOH.

I've been think of starting a thread like the "The Customer's Cars" thread...But instead, it's houses.
