Thank yoooou.

I just ordered a 2 pack of socket rails, one of each size. 1/4", 3/8" and 1/2" drive. I also wanted (put on my Christmas list) another CMan stool for the garage. They were down to $49.99.

I also got another 5% off the BF ad price, the sockets rails down to $3.79 and the stool to $47.49 . I was going to buy a stool about a week ago when they were on sale for 79 bucks. I'm glad I waited since I'm doing store pick up and got that entire order for less than the stool sale price.

Now I get an email stating they are out of stock. Looks like this order is going to get cancelled.

I went over to my local store. All the 42 piece hex sets in the center aisles with all the Black Friday merchandise is Made in China.

So I went over to the regular tool aisle, and they had three old sets on the locked hangers, that you need a sales associate to come over and unlock the hanger to pull the tools out. Two of those are China, but the one in the back with an inch of dust on it is Made in USA!

I'm pretty confident if I go back right when the sale starts again the USA set will still be there, and I'll have an associate unlock the hanger and tell them I want that one particular set.

The USA set is different than the China set, and easy to identify. The China set is a square plastic box with a flip down latch. The USA set is more rounded around the edges and has a slider latch.

Other than the 42 piece hex set (provided I get the USA set), there is basically nothing I am going to buy at Sears for Black Friday. I might get one or two Gladiator 30" boxes, but haven't decided yet.

Wasn't gonna go tonight, but drove to the Sears store that was a little further from the one I normally go to and found the last 42 pc set made in the USA :willy_nil

Also got a 1/4 inch US wobble extension, but forgot to get the 12 pc nut drivers, guess I have to go back. attached is a picture of the USA ones for reference, the box is different from the Chinese version. Good Luck

What a night but it paid off! I was looking for the 42 peice bit socket set and drove to a sears 15 minutes from the house to find nothing but china, went to another sears about 30 mins from the house and nothing but china. Debated on going but decided im this far what the hell and went to another sears about a hour from the house and found the very last usa set in utah! It was dusty as hell and stashed in the wrong spot behind a regular socket set I just recognized the older round looking box and looked for the hell of it and there it was it was pretty exciting haha I guess im just a diehard for merica made! 2 different sears in the salt lake valley closed this year and the one I went to tonight in provo had store closing signs. Kinda sad but oh well the sell outs deserve it , atleast most the used craftsman tool market in years to come will be real craftsman tools if this junk there selling now is this short lived!

Well that's just wonderful. I like how when the pre sale was and I looked up and the price was back to 99.99 I asked if they could honor the 29.99 I saw online they said no.... A couple days later back to 29.99

Went to two different Sears stores. The first had all China made 42 piece bit sets (which had one USA when I checked the other day).

Drove to the other side of town to a different store, and they had one Made in the USA set left (locked on the rack). Grabbed it!

If you go looking for a USA set, don't bother looking out in the aisle on the floor of all the China made Black Friday stuff. Go over to the regular tool aisle, where the tools normally would be on non-Black Friday. That is your best bet in finding a new old sock USA leftover.

Made a stop be Sears this morning since they stated my order was out of stock. I wasn't sure if they would be open but they were. I bought the stuff I had originally ordered but I decided to grab 2 of the 3/8" socket rails instead of one.

Is the USA stuff better? I've owned plenty of American made junk.

Was gonna say yes but just snapped a hex socket from the USA craftsman I purchased last night. I brought two chairs from Office Depot today and while installing them I snapped a Hex key. It was my fault, was using my Milwaukee M12 impact driver, and the box clearly says not rated for impact. It snapped on my second bolt :eyecrazy:, then I turned to a Black and Decker 100 pc set that came with several hex bits, used my Milwaukee M12 impact driver and installed the rest of my 20 or so bolts to the chair. I for sure know that the Black and Decker hex bit set are not impact rated, but they worked flawlessly.

So in conclusion are they better then the Chinese version? don't know... but the cheapo Chinese hex bit form Black and Decker 2ND PIC (non impact) worked great...go figure. I don't know if you put to much pressure with the ratchet if it would of snapped?

Thought this was a good find on sale for $16 and change, was free after my rewards points. Made in USA and from the packaging looks to be fairly old stock.

....................

It is not that old. Maybe 2008-2010 at most.

Those punches and chisels came painted for only a couple or years or so. They were black oxide finish prior to that, then painted as yours are and within the last year or so, went back to black oxide finish.

I figured they would be pre 2011 based on the packaging, but that was just a guess on my part.
