I picked up a pretty complete Speedmaster 1/2 drive set today at the flea. I was pretty stoked, since up until now all I have found are individual pieces here and there.

Now, the pieces were all in the top tray of an old Ward's turquoise colored box. I seem to recall Speedmaster being a Montgomery Wards brand, but what I am curious about is whether the tools would have come in a Wards box or a Speedmaster-marked box originally?

I will get some pics up later after all the items have been cycled through my ridiculously awesome ultrasonic cleaner. The internals of the ratchet are pretty neat.

Pics later.

I guess that new ultrasonic is working well :)

Oh, man, you don't even know. It's like a miracle worker.

So, below are some pics. I'll start with before and after shots of the ratchet guts. Then I have some pics of the ratchet's individual pieces laid out, a few shots of the box this stuff came in that I have that question about above, and then some shots of the whole load, freshly cleaned and gleaming.

I absolutely thought of Walden when I saw this ratchet, yes. Perhaps I can do some additional research.

The condition of all the pieces is excellent. I think one of the smaller sockets has some chrome loss. But , most of the pieces seem to have been used little and only lightly. The u-joint is quite tight.

Walden sourced ratchet?

Possibly Wright? Numbers on the sockets remind me of Wright?

Great condition for its age.
