I’ve been working away from my own workshop today, helping a friend make up some small tools, and set up some machines.
Anyway, as I was cleaning up my stuff I thought I’d share a few of the useful things I’ve been using.
KoKen tap holding sockets. These are great. I’ve got a load of tap wrenches, but keep coming back to these. They hold the tap really firmly, and you use them with any 3/8 handle or extension. M8 tap shown for scale, this is the bigger size.
Vallorbe ‘Habilis’ Precision Files (blue packet) Bigger than a needle file (and more aggressive) but smaller than a regular file, and much much more accurately made. I just love these things and use them seemingly every time I need a small file. I buy these whenever I see them on a deal!
Snap On (or Williams) ‘T Handle’ Bit Driver. These things have been in the Snap On catalogue for years, but they never really seem to push them, which is odd, as they’re one of the best designed ratcheting bit drivers out there. You hold than at a totally natural angle, so they are mega comfortable and fatigue free to use, but there really is no better tool to use single handed. 3 blade lengths available, this is the mid size!
