Yeah I looked into converters when I had a plasma cutter obtained at an auction. Maybe someday when I move and gain more space for toys like this or that bridgeport I've been wanting.

yeah, we saw that one the other day.. It's just too humungous and the 3phase requirement is a pain in the ***. If it was something smaller I'd jump all over it

I'd love to have it but it's probably twice the weight as a bridgeport, & it doesn't look like it has a tilting head so it may not be the machine we think it is, but it does look good.

Yeah,thats a big'un.

The deals are out there.......a cpl months ago was picking up a,F'd up,"freebie" base for a big grinder. The guy had a very nice Cincinnati, vertical mill.Looks like a Bridgeport on steroids.......anyhow,with limited tooling he let it go for 1200$.Just sayin, you gotta get out there and be active.....So back to OP,that machine may be too big,or too sumthin. But if its local, why not go over and look at it?Talk to the guy,I've found more equip deals like that than in any "published" efforts.BW

Stuff like that should never get scrapped out. It should be put back in a warehouse for storage for the time being. One day will come when it it wanted.

Not so true, brought two water heaters and some other scrap to the yard a week or two ago and when I was unloading it I saw a mint condition floor stand 1950's craftsman drill press laying under some other metal, intact with motor and everything. I would garuntee it still was working when dumped.

If it's heavy, people will scrap it for a quick buck.

Another idiot needing his *** beat dumped that one! Would have fetched at least twice scrap price.

That's actually a nice old mill if its in good condition. You can take just about any size cut you want and all directions will have power feed. Any kind of decent machinery is going to be three phase, unless you get a 1hp bridgy or something.

If it were around here I'd already have it on the trailer for that price.
