For the same reason the same thing has been happening at auctions since the beginning of time - the high bidder really, really wants it. Doesn't necessarily have anything to do with what it's actually worth.

They need to get a check up from the neck up, S-o may have kits today to repair but you never know about two days from now then it maybe scrap metal if it is really bought to work with.
