My wife is quite handy, and having worked as office assistant at a machine shop, knows her way around hand tools. During the past year we have been busy with a basement remodel and the garage has become the catch-all for tools, materials, and any CL finds I bring home. Because I haven't had a chance to get reorganized, she got fed up with having to ask me to find a tool she needs, and came home with an el-cheapo toolbox and tools. Works perfectly for her needs and allows me the sanity of knowing the I'm the one who lost a tool if/when I can't find it.

There is a drawer under the double oven in the kitchen where the household tools live. There was a Ridgid screwdriver set and some pliers there. Over time they got lost/misplaced so she picked up a HF free set. I tossed a 6-In-I screwdriver in there and we are good.

I don't have any Snap-On but I am missing my pair of Channel Lock needle-nose pliers from my tool bag. I can't ***** too much because if I do she will find them somewhere where I DEFINITELY left them and that would be worse than NOT KNOWING where they are.

I've almost slept on the couch a few times - but never over a screwdriver or a hand tool - regardless of cost.

Cheers

Jim

Most of you need to get a life......a real life.....it's just a ******* tool.....

God forbid something serious happens....

Yep this is how i feel. My wife can walk into the garage and grabe whatever she wants. I dont care. Thats why they have a lifetime warrentee. If it breaks then get it fixed or a new one.

Probably ergonics. They're too soft, make my hands cramp.

My wife makes a lot of necklaces, she was complaining about the hobby store tools not working well for cutting and crimping stuff so I brought home a Knipex precision cutter and needle nose for her to use. She loved them but didn't want to use them anymore when she found out they are $40 each.

That's about par for the course when it comes to jewelry / wire pliers. The mrs has many a pair of $50 Lindstrom / Swanstrom electronics (jewelry) pliers.

Screwdrivers, well, i had to put out some sacrificial ones. The urge to pry with screwdrivers seems to go up as the price per tool increases!

You guys with all your talk of sleeping on the couch. If that is an issue get a more comfortable couch.

I remember when I was about 12 and I got a 9 piece snap on orange screwdriver set for christmas and when I brought it into the garage and put it away in the toolbox. me and my brother were working something or messing with something and somehow a black spray paint can worked its way into the mix and my SDD4 got painted black.

That was probably one of the first stages of curse words out loud at another sibling. my brother was 8 if I was 12

Oh man that reminds me when my little brother borrowed my Snap on needle noose to use for fishing at the river good thing they came back and not lost in the water.

I use a set of craftsman stainless steel, fairly long mini needle nose for this! Fit nice in the tackle box and never rust. :D
