On todays condensing unit change out. Came across an old GE/trane wreck spinoff from 70s with the aero quip style fittings.
Changing out lineset anyway,so I just chopped them off with recip saw to get them out of my road.
Expected to find them soldered on to old piece of copper,but the suction line on this one was actually plastic instead of copper.:wtf:

I used to see that a few times a year at least but I think it's been a couple years since the last time we ran into it. It really ***** when the lineset is buried in a ceiling and you initially planned on flushing and reusing it.


FWIW there is a new plastic lineset out now, it's called yoga pipe. Similar to the pex/aluminium/pex pipe but with a different type of plastic and a different connection.
