I got the compressor plumbed up correctly, but it had a leak so I fixed that, then I found that it was leaking out of one of the unloaders like the other pump, but not as bad. Anyways, I can use the air, but I need to fix the unloaders, sounds like it is time to rebuild them all. Here are the updated pictures.

Thanks, Nate. Not really that I have been busy, but I have been recovering. Still have another few weeks before I can go back to work. I figure I would rather nurse the elbow now, so I don't have to have surgery again.
I have been working on organizing my tool box. I also bought a "new" used computer, but I am going to have to upgrade the hard drive, that should be interesting.
I did not attend the spring auction, so no new goodies to put away. The weather outside is still pretty cool, so I have not been doing much of anything outside either. I really want to concentrate on getting rid of as much of the stuff in the shop as I can. I want to run lean, rather than spending time trying to find things.
I have also read a couple of books that are pretty insightful as far as my perfectionism. I had no idea how bad it really was until I started mapping things out. Let me tell you, it is bad, it is probably the single worst problem that I have and causes 85% or more of my shop related issues. I will be working on that from now on. I will try and get some pictures of my progress today.

Well I dumped another load of auction **** into the garage, so it looks like some thing blew up in there. I only purchased two pallet loads, It is hard to pass up 10.00 pallets of shop materials. One pallet had a bunch of the spiral wrap wire wrap. The other one just had misc odd ball stuff. I figure I can pick out the good stuff and then haul off the other stuff. I had to laugh at my self, I got a bunch of thin (1/8 inch by 60 inch) slats, I figured that I might be able to make drawer dividers out of them. When I got them home I discovered that they were slat out of an old wood blind set. Still might be able to use them. But most likely could of gotten bunches of them out behind a blind store.

86, the one that I found most interesting was "Pursuit of Perfect", I can't remember the author right now, I will try and put together a complete book list, some are better than others, but they all seem to have some interesting info. Another one was "The Power of Less".
Rich, that is why I avoided the auction, my GF suggested I set a small budget and go, I told her last time I did that I ended up with a truck full of smalls that I am still trying to figure out where to put. Hopefully you can use the stuff, but if not just toss it, definitely less stressful not being in charge of all those "things".

The other day I wanted to charge the forklift, but the charger made an awful hum, then I could smell hot electrical. I unplugged it and then remembered that the fan sometimes sticks, so I tried again and smacked the case, no dice. I left it alone because I was not really able to do much, but now I want the forklift and the battery is essentially out of juice.
I pulled the charger up onto a table and took the rear panel off. I plugged it in and sure enough the fan moved just a little bit. I tried motivating it with no luck, then I pulled it out and tried cleaning it. After that failed, I used a drill to spin it, just to see if there was something sticky, no luck. I searched high and low for another type of fan, all I had were 48 volt or 12 volt. I searched online, but found nothing exactly like it, then it occurred to me that there was this old fan that I despised, it was out in the wood shop. I grabbed it and it was a dead ringer, or so I thought.
The motor mounting bolts were just a bit larger, so when I tried to insert them in the existing holes, it messed up the 10-32 threads. I had to bend the case a bit so I could drill the holes out, but it worked, of course then I had to rethread the studs because the nuts would not go on them. Lastly the shaft was 5/16" and the original was only 1/4", I am glad it was that way, I just drilled the hub out to the correct size. So now it works, but I am running out of ambition, so I will not rewire everything and setup the fan speed switch. I figure I can do that when I add wheels, an air filter, and paint the thing. I will make sure the wiring is held up away from the fan, I also am replacing the damn slotted screws with some phillips/hex combo ones. I have slotted screws. I did not take pictures of the before, but this is almost complete, just need to dress the wires.

Yeah it was a bit of a hack, but in a good way. I also got rid of the fan housing, so one less thing floating around. I need to gather up the tools for my tower work, I have a couple jobs that will be happening in the first half of May. Since it looks like I will be having the towers from Kentucky shipped, I do not need to worry about tearing Bev apart and reworking the back body. I figure I might as well load the tools up like they used to be, that way I have everything I need for the jobs. On top of that, it will allow me to make even more room inside the shop.

Ok, Well this post puts me over Krusty the clown, and another 75 posts to move up to the next slot. Wish me good luck. Moving up on the second page is tough, a lot of heavy hitters on there. One post at a time I guess. I need to figure out a topic to start a new thread upon so that I can post a bunch also...Hum.
I am at the shop this morning, but I would prefer to take the day off. I am going to do a few things, but this is more about setting things up for tomorrow than anything. I really wanted to get some items listed on eBay, but I am trying to setup the "New" computer first. All the parts came in yesterday, but I had a family party to go to that ate up the afternoon and evening. I figure anything I get done is one more thing to check off the list.
I forgot to say that I did make a mess yesterday, but it is a good thing, I ended up emptying a couple more totes, plus I found more tools that need to be sold. Of course it made more work for me and I will have to put things away now, but I had to do it at some point anyways.
Why is it that I can't take a relaxing day? Do I not understand how to relax? I don't want to spend the day doing nothing, I think maybe I find organizing relaxing?????
I want to stop, but I keep saying just sort one more box, or move just one more thing. Now I am out in the back forty going through boxes of stuff, trying to make room for some supplies that I will be needing in two weeks. It just made sense to me to have them all ready to go, but not in the middle of the shop. I am seeing tons of things that I wish I had brought to the auction, so this time I am making a specific area for the auction and I will save them until I get a chance to bring them again.

My back has been tweaked for a week so im trying to let it heal. It seems every time i think it feels better, i try to do something and it's right back to being sore and unable to do things. Last nighr for example, i was simply going to clear one table off. One thing led to another and i found myself moving the new heavy tables around. Today i wake up and cant hardly walk, sit or stand and anything between kills me. But back to the question, you may find that doing things is relaxing and what others call relaxing is stressful.

Maybe I just need mind numbing, seems like that is what I am doing. It is a point A to point B thing with little thinking involved once I have started. I got a good bit of things shuffled around, even found a cool plastic tote that has a smaller nesting tote that slides back and forth on the lip of the bigger one. I think I found a great use for it. Also starting to finally decide what tools are going where, and I have selected the tools that are going to the truck. I still have more tools to go through, at least this is a start. On a good note, it doesn't feel like I aggravated my elbow, so I am happy about that as well.

Definitely has something to do with all the deals popping up lately. I think it started with the pallet rack, got it again with the big *** grinder wheeling rust off the rack. Then someone showed up at my shop with a couple hundred pounds of butcher block and info on where to aquire more at an unheard of deal(in which i took full advantage of). Finally, that said someone got a great deal on a lathe and needed it carried from it's mouse **** infested hiding spot to a trailer waiting nearby... im getting too old for good deals apparently.

Strouty, in the picture before your new computer, are those "big nut" looking things what I think the are? Are they for rounded bolt heads? They look like a set I have only much larger.
DLC, that is a thread chaser. It really isn't that large. I do have some removal tools for those special lug nuts, but they are in with my sockets.
Nines, I feel you on the getting too old for the best deals. That is why I started getting forklifts, cranes, and trailers.

What have you got going on today? How's the arm?
The arm is a bit sore, trying not to use it is a real PITA. I am going to do a bit more organizing of the tools, I have to unload a truck, move the wood shop trailer so it can be used, and do some paperwork with the GF so I have space to work on my computer tomorrow. I am sure there will be other things that need doing in the midst of all that, you get the idea.

Looks like I am also going to be loading the truck for scrap steel, starting to see too much of it scattered everywhere. At least I have some lead, aluminum, and copper to make the trip worthwhile. I am thinking I may get my Dad's ramp truck and haul off the two volvos as well, but that is for later in the week, maybe Thursday or Friday.
