Hi Strouty,

I've been slowly working through your thread for months, I'm up to page 62 of 216!

Sorry for commenting on old posts, but this reminded me of something I read the other day...

So it started raining a little earlier than I thought. I had to rush out and get the charger and bring the cord back in. I use a 5 gallon bucket to put the cord in, usually coils back up without an issue, but I was rushing and pulled the cord to the shop rather than coiling it a few times on the way in. It is a total mess and this got me thinking. I use the charger a lot, 90% of the time it is outside 70' or more from the shop. I think I need to make a cart specifically for the charger then I would like to install a cord reel at the end of the shop so I just pull it out as needed. Then I went a little deeper and realized the charger is annoying as hell, it has 3 cables coming out of it, all black, always tangled. Now I am not one to complain, (wait……………. that is someone else, I ***** about everything), but I think I am going to rework the cables as well. First I need to decide if this is the charger that I need, pretty sure I should be buying one that is 12 and 24 volt before I go modifying things. Now I am off on another tangent/wild goose chase.

Hey Guys, for all of you that have been following this thread I wanted you to know something. I spoke with Strouty a little while ago and he told me that he had to take some time away from the GJ. As you all know, he loves this place. He's kind of a quite guy (in his personal life)and plays his hand close to his chest. But he has some personal issues that he's dealing with and it requires a few months away. He'll be back! So hang in there and let him take the time he needs and before long he'll return to his beloved GJ.

Seems to me the only way to get anything actually completed is to bear down and shave the yak.
Anyway, I thought I would unbury this thread when closing up the pole building for the season today got me to thinking about it. Felt weird to be closing up on a beautiful 56 degree day, but next weekends high is forecast to be 34 with rain/sleet.
Hope things are going OK out there.

Sorry to leave you guys hanging, the shop is a mess because I packed things up for my extended hiatus, now I have to unpack things and I am not that enthusiastic right now.

Per usual the procrastinator/perfectionist wants to rule the day. I am starting small and I don't have any set goal or timeframe right now. I am looking at things differently than I used to, my priorities have changed and that will reflect in this thread as well. I do plan on posting somewhat regular so I don't leave everyone hanging. Hope you all had a good Christmas and have a safe and Happy New Year.

Thanks guys, maybe things are not as bad as they seem, at least as far as the shop. The idea was to get things set so that I could start working on the suburbans again and it looks like that will be possible sooner than I expected. My friend has stored some vehicles out back for the winter, but he left one out in the way of plowing, so I moved it today. Next year he is not getting the same privilege of using my yard. Here are a few pictures from this afternoon, it is actually pretty nice out, but the yard is a bit icy for sure.

Well the school bus is my friends, so is the box truck and I think there are six cars. I am not sure when he is planning on taking them out of here, but I don't want them to interfere with spring cleaning.

My car has had a rattle going on for the last two weeks, finally dug out enough tools to find out what the problem is, now all I have to do is dig out enough tools to fix it................

Thanks Bill, I intend to rebuild one or two suburbans, then get my forklift into shape, I also have my bucket truck that I want to get road legal to use this summer. Who knows what else will pop up, but I am sure there will be lots of things to do. Once the weather gets better I have to do the roof of the shop as well as part of the one at the house. Not looking forward to either of those, but they need to be done.

I see moving the metal storage rack out is working in your favor. Although I did not envision two suburbans in there, I always felt you would be more inclined to do vehicle project/repairs if it was not clogging up the main bay.

That is what worked for me. I tackled a fwd transmission swap because I could milk it out as it was out of the way. I don't care if it takes 4 days out, I work an hour or two at a time which is almost enjoyable. I am now a big fan of working to a point where I expose more rusty bolts, then Kroil them and call it a day. By the next day the bolts come off like I live down south.

You may see a to do list and imperfect shop.

I see a shop and yard in pretty darn good shape and ready for any projects you may throw at it.

Work on projects that are inside the shop while the weather is bad, then when it has cleared up then start on your out side projects.
Your shop is big enough to get your trucks in if you need to do some thing to them while the weather is bad.
