Anybody ever wonder why the metric system doesnt use metric drives? Metric sockets still use 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, etc ratchets.

Not that I want to start a war, I just always wondered when some a$$hole engineers will build a 12mm ratchets instead of 1/2"?

Anyone know how it came to be that metric sockets used standard drives in the first place?

I believe the answer was that an American designed the Square Drive System and it stayed the same when it went over to Europe.
