I'm sure you know that's Bridgeport Hardware Manufacturing Corp. but I'm gonna say it it just in case.

why was Bridgeport making a wrench that was the same as the model 45 Wakefield?
what was the application that required a bent wrench? :headscrat

We'll add that one with Delco magneto wrench to the "Why did they do this?" list of unanswered mysteries.

To reiterate:
When I was poring through all those early trade journals and magazines a year ago, I hit a wall at 1898 and had to pull the plug on it before I went crazy. (Or maybe just crazier.)
I still have a folder containing no less than 27.8 GB of *.pdf files that I have yet to get to - one page at a time - to pick out more delightful treasures none of us have ever heard of before.
It will probably be a while before I get to 1920 - I'm working on them chronologically - but hopefully something in one of them might offer a clue.
The magneto wrench question, on the other hand, we may never know the answer to unless somebody here has a vehicle using one of those magnetos. o_O

yes, they're stamped, not forged. as to Wakefield making them for Bridgeport, I suppose that's possibe.

the question is why was a 1/2" x 9/16" bent open-end wrench required?
