I have a Dake 50 ton press at our shop. It is the first and only press I have ever used. The best point is the "ram" that can be screwed up or down rather than changing the height of the horizontal supports. This saves lots of time and aggrivation. The press is at least 30 years old and nothing has ever broken on it. It has pressed thousands of front wheel and rear axle bearings, wheel studs, and bent many things straight that used to be bent. You can find them used if you look around long enough. I know of one for sale in the Minneapolis area I think he wants $1200 for it. Thats a lot of money but if you use it alot I would say its well worth it, and they never break. As for vises I have had great luck with The Wiltons, Older Columbians, Parkers, Morgans etc.. You can usually find them used for a decent price, may need to clean them up a bit and lube them but they will last forever also.
