...are the answer!

A $15 dollar valve--that I have to order to replace--the brewers brought me today "'cause it broke". A piece of 1/4" brass pipe busted off in the threads. We need that valve--today, not next week.

A spiral-flute extractor--even after being driven in--just spun and pulled out shiny brass shavings. I dug deeper into the extractor drawer and found the straight-flute, which, after a few hammer taps, pulled it right out! I also appreciate how close to the work you can hold grip the shank of the extractor, lessening the chances of shearing it off.

I had just enough of the 1/4" pipe sticking out of the piece of equipment to thread the broken end and get us back to cleaning kegs.

For larger pipe-broke-in-the-fitting jobs, these bad boys:

do the job. Vintage W&B brand.

Seems this is something I end up having to do pretty often....

OK Men…
Who’s gonna start a thread something like “Show us your new or vintage extractors… big or small let’s see ‘em all “ ???

Looks like you came out victorious, @Beerhippie

Last time I needed an EZ out, I had to dig through a bunch to find the one I wanted. After that, I decided to organize them and I built a kit that I could take to the job if needed. I still keep my Ridgid straight extractor kit, bolt head spiral flute set, multispline extractor set, expanded left hand drill set and cobalt left hand drill and extractor set in their dedicated boxes.

My high dollar Norse extractor set saved my boss's *** today after he rammed the boom of a rental jib boom lift into a beam and sheared 2 bolts off in the cable tray guide. He looked at me like i was an idiot, seemed happy when my kit worked.

Nice setup. Mine are all in their little boxes or bags (Williams straight extractors like the OP's).
