This has been at the pawn shop for the last two months at $99.99. Today it was marked down to $29.99. Today it came home with me.

Nice find!

My local pawn shops are the same way with pricing, and I never understood it. :headscrat

For example, I had my eye on a few camera lenses, but they were priced high, maybe the $60-80 price range. They sat and sat for months in the glass case, then one week I went in and they were loose in a pile, tossed in a wire rack in the front of the store with clearance tags at $4.99. They WOULD have been bargains at that price, but the careless handling had scuffed up the glass.

I would have bought them at $20-25/each, but for some reason they only have two price tiers: overpriced and blowout - nothing in-between?

The same thing happens with the tools there...

Let me be the first to say, YOU ****! Nice find. I checked out the one that is in my town. I found everything in it to be rather high priced. Maybe I'm looking for a bargain when there is none.

I have found that I can get some good deals at the Pawn Shop by letting them know my interest and leaving my phone # and what I am willing to pay.

I got a set of V series CM 1/2" sockets last summer for $15 they were asking $45. took them 2 days to give me a call.

The thing to remember at pawn shops is the price is always negotiable. If there's a tool of interest, I try to make sure I'm asking the HNIC when I make an offer. The clerks could care less if something sells and often don't have much authority to negotiate, but the top guy usually has a piece of the action.

Great score! The pricing strategy is very confusing. Just like an estate sale company around here. Overpriced the first day, everything is a buck the second. There was a nice vintage craftsman table top drill press priced at $80. I would have paid $40-$50. The next day, someone took it home for a buck.

Who knows?
Nice!

I once bought a block grinder for $25 that came with a heavy I beam stand. Your's is in MUCH better shape though!

Be careful, block grinders are addictive! I'm up to three so far.

I just started visiting local pawn shops, and I can't believe what they want for tools! I guess I never thought to leave them my number and a price. Thanks for the tip.
