I purchased a c'man pro series box this summer after is was on close out at my local Sears store in Indy - it was out the door for $900 and full price is $2300. It is a good box I think for the money (not super thrilled at the grip latch though).

Anyway Sears has the same box combo in Orange for $1299 so I thought I would buy the twin set - shipping on the combo is about $360

Now I call and ask if I can have it shipped to the Store instead of home delivery and you would think I asked them to deliver it on the moon. I guess they magically appear in stores and it is dumb luck for inventory. The in-store morons also acted like I was asking for a miracle.

Now I checked the return policy and I did not see any restocking fees on boxes so my plan is to buy the box return it to my local store and repurchase it without shipping - any holes in that plan (ethics aside please)?

Or should I scrap the whole plan and look for used snappy on CL?

well im not sure about boxes but for tools buying something in store thats not in stock gets you free shipping...it sounds retarded but its true. 16mm impact socket 8.49. + 4.99 shipping. In store they of course don't stock it so i ordered it on their computer there and its just 8.49.

Are you sure they refund shipping?

Regardless I wouldn't do it, too messy, too many chances for it to take a bunch of time and not work as expected.

There is normally a restocking fee of 15% on the toolboxes. If you go to the sear outlet store online you might be able to locate the boxes somewhere near you, also try the sears website, pay online pick up at the store feature using different zip codes.

I'm confused. I thought you bought the set already in the summer???
Anyway, I'm actually looking for that top box as well to go with the bottom I just got last week.

I am on my second box (outgrew #1 over the summer). You are probably correct on losing the shipping on the refund.

As for finding it in a store I used the zipcode look up function, but you quickly use up the zipcodes in your area. If they would locate it for me like a new car I would drive a few hundred miles to pick it up, but it is such a pain.

FYI: When you go to the sears store and place orders on the store kiosk....it will automatically give you free shipping.

That model is discontinued, so I don't think any store would have it. There is an updated version out. I bought the display model 36" chest for $315 in August.

The top box is available out here at one of the sears stores, I have seen them but not in black, yellow and orange. Not sure what store it was though, I think it was either at the Sears store in Woodfield mall or at the outlet store in Round Lake (or near there), on Rollins Rd. (in the parking lot of the Big Kmart Store).

At some sears stores if you go into the store and order it online you get free shipping to the store. This would require them to have the little computer all setup for your use, I don't think they all do.

They might charge you shipping on a box anyway. I'm pretty sure I had to pay shipping to the store to special order a tool box.
