yes. i was told it would be rebuilt in house. my same body. not a refurbished one.Wait, you bought a broken ratchet from some random sale and now you are pissed at Sears? oh kay
If you wanted it done right, then you should have done it yourself. Stop bitching.

I don't know:
$5.00 for a refurbished ratchet seems like a good deal to me.
i asked them if they could give me any parts and they said no, they would have to rebuild it.
why is this my fault???
just spoke with greg, the gentleman who rebuilds the ratchets. said he does many at a time and he cant keep track of whos is whos. (this is not what i was told by the person i dropped it off with)
mine was in a ziplock bag with my name and phone number taped to it. he is going to look in the back and see if he has any spare bodies laying around to swap out and call me back.
i know the answer to this whole issue.
i should have bought snap on.![]()
i scored a MINT fine tooth round head 3/8 drive 43788 -V- ratchet from a sale for 5 bucks.
got it home and was going to put it to use and it froze.
took it apart and it has one broken pawl.
my local sears has an old school guy that rebuilds ratchets in the back. i took this ratchet in specifically and told them i did not want to exchange it, i wanted the old man to rebuild it. it was special to me and i needed this exact ratchet rebuild, not exhanged.
get a call today saying its ready to pick up.
it has a refurbished upc on it and it has for sure been in a machine and been tumbled clean. on each side of the =CRAFTSMAN= has a big J as a prefix and a V as a suffice. some assholes initials. one side of the round head has toolbox marks, and the other side looks like another owner tried to etch initials in failing miserably.
now i have a clean working round head fine tooth ratchet, but its not the one i took in. this *****.
this thread makes me giggle. As does half the **** posted on this board.
The warranty was 100% effective and correct in this case.
The warranty says nothing about special treatment.
I should have posted it was my personal ratchet or that it was my dads that passed away. I just told my story.
I dont see why everyone is giving the op such a hard time..i agree with him 100%.
When someone tells you face to face that there is a guy who rebuilds them in the back I don't call that special treatment. Its a service I was offered.

Sears already does it so cheap its bankrupting them,,, now we have come to expect we should get 50$ worth of service on a 5$ used tool.
