SOOW feeding a sub panel?

I have 100' of 4/4 SOOW cable on hand. Is it legal to use it for a sub panel in my garage? It is a 75' run to the attached garage through the attic. Tie into the main panel in the back bedroom, run through the attic, and surface mount a sub panel in the garage, run all circuits in garage w/ conduit. I see the cable is rated for 60 amps, that would be plenty for the garage. Just need a couple 220 outlets for a welder and an air compressor. Then a couple 20 amp 110 circuits. I know it isn't a typical use, but if it is legal and safe, it is FREE. Thanks all.

You probably need to check with your local authorities but I think SO cable is only for temporary wiring.

Flexible cords are not permitted to be used as a substitute for permanent wiring, so no you can't if you want a proper job.

If you wanted to sell that SOOW on CL or eBay it would probably pay for ALL the materials to do the wiring project you are describing using conduit for the entire project. That size cord is expensive brand new.

The cord is an inch in diameter and would weigh nearly 100 pounds!
Great for a big motor home that needs 60 amp service or maybe a mega yacht...

Would work great for an RV cord. Other than that pretty useless though I bet if you list it for a few hundred bucks you'll sell it quick.
