Sorensen Push Button Ignition - How to Wire?

My wife's grandpa was a great man and the ultimate tinkerer. We recently visited his old house and I went straight to the barn. One of items I found was this "new in box" Sorensen part.I'd love to use this on a motorcycle I'm building but have no idea how to wire it. Hope yall can help me out. Thanks.

It looks as if it has only one male wire "tab" so I would think that this push button provides the grounded side of the start circuit. Take a meter and see if you have continuity between the wire "tab" and the outer shell casing of the push button. If so, then it would function like this: when you push the black button, the circuit will be completed from the tab, to the casing, to the metal dash, and back to the Neg. side of the battery. And as always, only my opinion!

Assuming it is grounded through its mounting hole as mentioned above...

Take it and mount it to a chassis grounded panel. Wire the terminal on the back to a standard automotive relay terminal 85. Connect terminal 86 from the relay to a switched ignition +12v.

Connect terminal 30 to a 12v+ switched (or Constant ) source. Connect terminal 87 to the starter wire that would normally come from the factory start push button or the key switch.

If the circuits on the MC aren't already fused it's not a bad idea to add some in on the 12v+ supply wires.

Without detail on the actual "build wiring" it's hard to elaborate.

In all my years I've never seen a connector such as that on a switch... Very unusual!

In all my years I've never seen a connector such as that on a switch... Very unusual!

Uses a bullet connector. This probably was a starter button for a Ford/Merc from the 40's. My neighbor has a 47 Ford with the same switch to ground the connection on the starter solenoid.
