I'm kind of looking at this Reed vise. However, is that a braze on the slide, I see right behind the front jaw?

Sorry if this is a dumb question. Still learning. I need a large bench vise in my shop. Anyway, is what I'm seeing the consensus? Don't want to drive 30 miles if so.

It looks like a V shape piece is missing at the top . You can see the white bucket through it in the background. The same V shape is on the closer top corner of the slide filled with weld. The handle has been replaced and that tells me there has been a lot or pressure put on it in past.
Keep looking, you will find a good one.

Thanks! It looked a little off to me. Glad there are so many experts around here. Though I imagine you get sick of newbies asking vise questions! [emoji3][emoji3]

It's not brazed. If you need a large vise you should go buy it real soon. Especially for what he's asking for it. I made him an offer yesterday. I guess he didn't like it since he never even responded lol.

I would already be at the seller's door with cash in hand for that vise. I saw the price and you're fortunate that I don't live in the Westchester County area. ;)

Run, don't walk to the seller and buy it. There are no braze marks or missing pieces on the slide.

That vise will clean up like new. You can easily straighten the swivel handle and with minimal work effort, the vise can be prepped for fresh paint.

Nice grab. Welcome to the vise illness.
