My building shares a roof between the house and shop. When the tube heater kicks on, it hummms pretty loud and we can hear it in the house. It actually seems louder in the house that out in the shop.

What can I isolate the chain from the roof with?

Maybe use a nylon strap like a tie down strap for the first 6 inches from the cieling? You could install grommets in the strap or just use a soldering iron to melt a of hole at each end of the strap. That should insulate the vibration from the heater to the joists.

Go to the auto-parts store, get some small muffler donuts, and splice them inline with the chain!

PERFECT! Thanks.

I knew that something like that existed because I had used them before, on exhaust, naturally, but I just couldn't remember what I had used them for.
Kinda fell stupid actually, but glad to have the assist.
