I have 05 and 06 2500hd trucks. Both with Duramax/Allison.

I just swapped out the starter on the 05 and was thinking of fixing the old one rather than turn in the core. It needs a bendix. I was also going to do the brushes.

While under the truck I found some play in the idler arm. I have bought the stuff off Fleabay before but would like to find a source for front end and other parts that is online.

I buy wheel bearings and filter through the DMAXSTORE.COM.

I was wondering if anyone had any other good parts source for quality parts?

The rock auto site looks pretty comprehensive.

Cognito looks very pricey.

Interesting mix on the sites with Merch and others in kits. Lots of overlap with better pricing for the same parts.

First I'd recommend editing your title to add 'GM' to it, since Dodge makes a 2500 HD truck as well...

Second, RockAuto is great.

Third, for starter internals: check CarQuest, I usually can find them there. If not do a web search as there are a couple of companies who do specialize in these parts. The place I was using has closed, so I can't recommend them anymore.

RockAuto isnt bad. Great prices, mostly poor customer service.

I have been using AdvancedAuto.com recently. Free in store pick-up and they usually have 20% $100 or more + you get a $25 off $50 purchase for next time.

I'll have to check out this MerchantAuto for next time. I just replaced the whole front end suspension on my 06 HD. Not fun at all, but it needed to be done. Good luck!

Merchant is a MI based company as well!!

I have purchased several items from them and they have great customer service.
From what I have been told they are who to go to for an Allison build on our trucks.

They know Duramax's and Allison's well.

The only thing to watch out for w/ Rock Auto is the shipping. Depending on what you order, shipping can get to be quite expensive if they end up shipping from too many locations.

I ended up canceling part of an order after my $50 in parts turned into a $90 order after shipping charges from 4 locations were added in. Ended up keeping the parts for the Mustang through RA, then ordering the Porsche parts through Pelican Parts.
