I need to order a passenger side floor pan for a Fastback Mustang. I used to get the majority of my parts from Mustangs Unlimited. Are there any current suppliers that are known to have better quality stuff?

Yes. I forgot about Year One. I’ve found a bunch of sellers that have what I’m looking for. I’m curious if they are all the same quality or if some stock is better than others.

I have to agree with Bill50. NPD sets the standard as the mustang supplier in the U.S.

When I started in the hobby about 30 years ago, Mustangs Unlimited was my go to supplier...but over the years I gradually and then completely switched over to NPD because they have better customer service and faster shipping.

There's a reason NPD is still in business and MU isn't.

Npd bar none. The owner is a mustang/car guy. They will flat out tell you if its a good part. Dynacorn has quality parts. Yes, they're typically all made by one or two Chinese vendors but the retailers set the quality. If you're in any questions at all about the other side of the floor I recommend going one piece. I've done both now, and I'll do one piece for all bu the smallest of patches.

Yes NPD- depending on the part they will have several manufacturers and can tell you if its a good part or a near perfect part. I have used both one piece floors and partial pans for 65, 66 and 69 mustangs. I have not used parts for a 67 or 68 *cause I dont have one*- But I can say NPD is excellent for parts, customer service, and for returns should you need that. They will send you a free catalog that you can drool over and dream about-

Also- If you aren't a member of Vintage Mustang Forums- I highlyrecommend that board. It is the mustang version of GJ- with highly relevent topics, numerous how toos- and lots of pics and history. (I don't think this was "illegal" to recommend another board but apologies if it was)

I would ASSUME Dynacorn has some close to OEM dimensional replacement parts as they are building complete shells with them, and when parts don't hit the jigs just right, everything else is going to be off.

The problem is almost all aftermarket stuff is complete GARBAGE

From the questions I see, it seems that not many people actually understand stamping large body panels. Yes, small parts can be made by many manufacturers as the machines required to make the parts are relatively a modest size. I used to work in an automotive stamping plant. The presses required to stamp out large body panels (floors, roofs, hoods, fenders, quarters) are GIGANTIC presses. And depending on the complexity of the part, require several of these GIANTS in a row to get the final trimmed, finished piece. The OEM's have these stamping plants. The shops that are capable of this for the aftermarket are far & few between. And believe me, NPD, Year One, Mustangs Unlimited and whoever else you can think of don't have their own.

I was down in Ohio doing a job at the stamping vendor. What got me was the numbers of old stamping dies they had in inventory. They said they go back like 50 years in dies.
