I was tuning the wife's 380SL over the weekend and needed a long 3mm Allen T wrench. Went to the box and pulled out my Blue Point metric set and found that it was packaged with two 5mm and NO 3mm by mistake and I never checked it when I bought it several years ago! Dam! I went the computer and was searching EBay for it when I stumbled on this seller (Wilhagan Ventures) of discontinued Snap-On tools at what I thought were fair prices. Shipping didn't seem out of line either so I made a list and emailed to see about combined shipping. I was able to order 29 tools and they charged me only $12 total to FedEx them all to me! Paypal'd them and should see them by this weekend if I'm lucky.

I know there are a lot of folks on this site might be interested so here it is:

PS. I have no affiliation with this seller

They turned up in the thread on impact swivels, set of 3/8 drive 5 sizes metric for about $75 shipped. Hard to say "exactly" what the source of the tools might be, but I suspect it isn't directly from snapon or discontinued, more like a shipment that was lost or damaged and sold at auction. They do seem to have a bunch of stuff at decent prices, so much that I was planning to hold out and see if with 75 sets of the metric swivels the price might drop later on.

I do think all of this is direct from Snap-On because some of the items are the same things that Overstock.com and this other "liquidator" are selling. I think all of the items are no longer in the catalog.

Not only that, I wouldn't buy it if I knew I'd have a hard time getting it replaced. I've actually run into this before: I have a MSD4 screwdriver/prybar and it seems to be dscontinued. I broke it last week, not sure if I'll ever get one, it didn't show up on his computer as in stock. Makes me a little wary to buy anything special from SO.

If the tool is no longer available or there is not a replacment then the dealer is supposed to issue you a credit for the full value!! I have asked before.

Wow, that is pretty nice. I suppose it should be considering I bought it only about a year ago. I'll look into it, thanks alot.

I feel like buying some crescent wrenches in my most commonly used sizes just to say I "use snap on tools".

I can say I have Mac, snap-on, matco sockets too since I have one socket of each in my drawer of craftsman and taiwan sockets.

this is probably the wrong place to post this but I will anyway... Did Snap-On discontinue the Toolmate pinup program?
