Source for fuel pressure tester adapters

After my other thread about fuel pressure testers for the home mechanic I ended up picking up a Mac fuel pressure tester on craigslist. It came with a couple adapters but not many. I would like to add a few adapters to it so I can test all the vehicles I work on but am having a hard time finding out what adapters I need and a source for them. I emailed mac and asked if they had a newer manual that lists what adapters for what vehicles and part numbers so I can order them. They have a newer test kit, http://www.mactools.com/Product/tabid/120/productid/318949/variantid/309708/Default.aspx and while the actual tester is different the adapters look just like the ones I have. But they don't have a parts page listing the individual adapters for sale. I've been googling for a while trying to find out what adapters go to what vehicles without much success. Also I'm not finding many places that sell the individual adapters, seems like you either buy the basic kit or buy the master kit! Anyone know where you can buy individual adapters for a fuel pressure tester? Or something that lists what adapters are needed for what vehicles? I'm usually pretty good at googling and finding what I need but this one is hitting a bunch of dead ends!

I will try to get some pics of the tester I bough sometime. I would guess it's about 10-15 years old ad it's made in the USA. Has a nice quick connect system, looks like the same as the newer mac I linked to above.

You could ask Star (aetools.com) if their adapters work with the Mac
couplers.

Snap-on sells individual adapters, I don't know if they work with Mac
couplers.

Thanks for that link. Looks like it only goes up to 2005 though. It's a good start. Hopefully mac will get back to me. I'm hoping they have a newer manual that lists what adapters for what cars that I can download.

I've built a few myself, like those imports that use a banjo bolt hook ups. I went to the junkyard & found some fittings so I could add a unversal tee to it.
On GM tbi units (no test port), I welded a 3/8 tube to a gm fuel filter inlet nut (broke it off) & added a saignaw fitting on the other end, now I can unhook the feed to the tbi, put the adaptor in (loop it w/ the tee in the middle) The inlet of the tbi.
You can get some new fitting at most parts stores under the Dorman line, you should beable to make up some adaptors for testing.

I've been looking into this also. Like for the civic it uses a 5/16" quick disconnect I guess. Was going to try and get some fittings for that from advanceauto and make up a tester. I have the tee piece that lets you use some rubber hose and whatever fittings at the ends so just have to find the right fittings.

I'm thinking I'm going to take a trip to the junkyard next weekend and see what I can grab off vehicles to make some adapters. Have a few questions. Does the pressure tester always get hooked up between the fuel line and fuel rail for most vehicles that don't have a schrader valve on the fuel rail? What are some good vehicles to get fittings off to make my own adapters and where are they located on the vehicles? I have the universal tee fitting that you hook a short piece of hose on each side and then vehicle specific fittings on the hoses and hook those to the vehicle. So I am looking for fittings that go to the vehicle quick disconnects and can hook onto the hose somehow. I will be looking for the vehicles I know I might be using it on, malibu, impala, F150, civic, chrysler, and a few others. Hopefully I can get an assortment of fittings to make my own adapters. What tools would you take to the junkyard to cut off these fittings? I will take a variety of cutters for metal and rubber hose but want to see if I'm missing anything.

Otc sells a manual that lists their part number for the adapter the testing location and the required pressure is also listed , they sell you individual adapters by calling it in. What cars do you need adaptors for? I got the manual iin the Otc fuel master kit. List the cars and ill post the otc adapter number. The book is awesome they sell it online for like 90 bucks by itself.

90 bucks for a book to tell what adapters to use! Ouch! I'll send you a PM with the vehicles I work on.

I'm really hoping that Mac has a downloadable manual for their new tester that lists what adapters go with newer vehicles. The Mac tester I bought looks like it uses the same adapters as the newer Mac tester. the one I bought came with a manual but I'm sure it's pretty outdated, guessing 15 or so years old. I would think mac would have the adapters listed on their website and what vehicles they go to so they could sell more adapters. Really want to try and get out to the junkyard this weekend and see what kind of fittings I can pick up and what I can make with them. If I can get different fittings for different cars that I can clamp rubber hose onto I have the universal tee for my pressure tester. Just have to find those fittings!

Mac got back to me today and sent me a PDF of their newer tester manual with a list of fittings and what vehicles they go to. It's a pretty generic list like "fits ford, honda, chevy". But it's a start. I will have to try and figure out what ones I need.
