Haha. Uhhhhhh........yeah, you've been to a HF store right? I am not sure some of the staff even know they have tool boxes for sale there. LOL.

That's good to know they have them available, because when I pick up my set this week, I'm going to move around some of the drawers and will need some extra slides.

Wait, the store has the slides?!?!?

Where, what part number, etc?!

I called their Indian parts support number and ordered 4 of them. Told me 4-8 weeks for delivery and it's been 6 weeks now.

Why not go to a local hardware store and buy some nice ball bearing slides?

Just about everything HF sells comes with some sort of owner's manual with an assembly diagram inside showing numbered components. Call the 800 number (1-800-444-3353) and tell them what you need...

This forced me to go out into the cold and read my owners manual that came with my 56 inch Torin, um, US General, top chest.

Slides are not available separately. It's in the manual.

Now my slides work fine, and if I needed slides for it I would easily measure them, then buy them on E-bay for 3-4 bucks a slide so I don't care, but I was sure I had read that in their book.
So some slides may be available, but some are not, at least not through HF.

My HF had them in the same aisle as the storehouse merchandise laying on the bottom shelf i think they came in a set not indivijual.:)

Our store didn't have slides.

In November, I called the tech support line and tried to place an order for slides. The very heavily accented Indian on the other end was scandalized that I didn't have a part number for the slides. He was insistent that there should be a listing of parts in the manual for the top chest that identified which part I wanted (obviously there wasn't). He eventually read the names of all the parts he could order for the top chest and one of them sounded close enough that I bought some. He couldn't tell me if "qty 1" was a pair or a single slide. I wanted 2 more pairs, so I ordered 4 just in case they were individual.

I eventually gave up on ever receiving them as the "4-8 weeks" passed without any sliders.

However, today, more than 14 weeks after the initial order, the FedEx man showed up when I wasn't expecting him. To my shock and awe, the box contained 8 brand new ball bearing sliders that fit my tool box!

The receipt isn't very helpful. I shows "QTY 4", so obviously these things are sold by the pair since I have 8 of them sitting here. There's no part number per se, but there's a line that says "ITEM SKU: 92099 ITEM DESC: TOP CHEST FOR 90320 ROLL CAB - VENDOR PART 07 DESCRIPTION 16" RAIL SLIDE". I'm guessing that the "PART 07" for Item 92099 is what you'd need to tell the guy on the phone if you want to order these too.

Since the drawers can be moved between the top chest and the roller cab, it's reasonable to assume the sliders can do the same. Probably.

Now I'm going to try to order an extra drawer because I want all shallow drawers on the narrow right hand column of the top chest.

I order 4 sets of them from Harbor freight a few months ago to convert a cheap *** Kobalt work bench in to a usable work bench.

Here is a copy of the email I got from them. It has all the info you need to order them from HF. I got mine in about 10 days.

" 13605-0vga 90320 DRAW SLIDE $6.81
28648-0vga 90320 16INBALL BEARNG DRWR SLI $6.81

Please note that this is a skued part and is not listed on the web. You may order this directly from the order desk 1-800-423-2567, or our non toll number 1-805-388-2000, or you can click from our Web Page: www.harborfreight.com, and click on Order from Printed Catalog and enter the sku. Please note that you need to type in the number 0 after the dash number, not the alphabetic o.

Huh, then it's a better deal to do what I did. The way I ordered it, I got a complete pair of slides, drawer and cabinet side for both left and right for $6.81. So that's 1/4 the cost of doing it your way.

Maybe I'm mistaking then. I know I had to use two on each side(one cabinet one drawer), But don't remember how I ordered them. I just told the guy on the phone I needed enough slides to "repair" 4 drawers.

What was your total cost? That might help sort out what went on. I got what you did, enough sliders to "repair" (ha!) 4 drawers. My total cost was $27.24.

I don't remember. I'm looking through my bank statements now to see if I can find it.

Are they enough room to use two small drawers to replace the bottom deep drawer?
Ive never had my US General cabinet apart, But I would LOVE to replace the bottom drawer with two small drawers.

Let us know if your able to buy a replacement drawer.

EDIT: I found it, I ordered mine on 9-14-10 and the total was $61.68. Thats 8x $6.81 + shipping & Tax.

So two for each drawer, Not four like I thought.

Yeah, the entire box is "quantized". The vertical rails are punched at regular intervals for sliders. The only thing that varies is wither a drawer takes up 2 vertical units or one. I've already totally changed where the deep and shallow drawers are, I just want to swap one deep for two shallow in the right column of the top chest.

I'm also going to email HF to see about a replacement drawer. I want to replace both my deep bottom drawers with two singles. That would be sweet.

Post what they tell you. I'm planning on making a phone call and I'll post the results of that as well.

How long did it take you to get yours after the order?

Damn, that's a hell of a lot better than the 13-14 weeks it took to get mine.

When you talk to them, keep in mind that the drawers for the top chest, bottom cabinet, and side cabinets are all different. They're actually interchangable between units because they're all the same size (so you can stick a roller cabinet drawer in the top chest, for instance) but the locking mechanisms are different in each piece so they'll only lock into the kind of unit they were designed for.

No they can't...at least on the new style boxes.

Interesting. I have an "old style" top and a "new style" bottom and side. I can move the drawers around between all 3 of them. Well, the narrow ones between all 3 of them and the wide ones between the top and bottom.

Hmm, that is interesting. I just bought this set-up (top, bottom, and side) two weeks ago...all the new style. I wanted to swap the deep drawers from the top chest with two shallower drawers from the roll cab, and it was a definite no-go. The detents are totally different and the drawer from the bottom chest did not play well with the slides in the top chest at all.

HF obviously does a lot of rolling supplier changes. Makes things a nightmare for the customer.

That "six to eight weeks" is what turned into 12-14 for me.

Any indication which drawer is A and which is C?

A = the 16" drawers
B = the 22.25" drawers

Both are the short drawers from the 13 drawer roller cabinet. I'm going to measure tomorrow to make sure everything will fit and if it does, I will order two of the 22" drawers to replace the large bottom drawer. I just hope I can get the older style with out the bottom lip. It will look funny if two drawers have the new style lip when the rest don't.

I tried to order two sets of these last year and it took at least 12 weeks and then I got drawer slides for the top chest and not the bottom chest. Then it took another 12 week, and about 4 phone calls, to get a refund!

But I still need at least two sets and would like four sets but am afraid to order because of first experience...

Careful with some of the information in this thread. While accurate at the time, this thread is 3 years old and there are several different versions of the 44" box now. Some parts do not interchange between versions.

I have the current version being sold and ordered slides last year for it. I ordered 5 pair and received them 2 weeks later. I needed to add double slides to my deep drawers and wanted some spares on hand. It was a pretty painless expierence for me.
